2 day Spearfishing Trip With Tom Nixon

Despite The raining season, we manage to get 2 good days, avoiding the rain and bad weather. We started the trip in North Bali, the plan was to go to the FAD but the thick cloud in North Was not a good sign. We went straight to the reef and hunt in our favorite spots. There was mild current which give us a little trouble going to the outer reef that stick on from the Bay. We manage to to shoot some fish for Dinner , Tom Bent his Shaft and lost 25 Kg Giant Trevally. The GT was stuck in reef with ripping currents. Tom Tried so hard to secure his fish but the Current was to strong.

The next day we went to East Bali to hunt for wahoo and Spanish Mackerel. We spotted few Spanish and wahoo but they were to shy. Kept their distance. We saw lots of Big Milkfish, school of Bigeye Trevally and GT. Tom shot Green Jobfish and lost the fighting battle pulling the fish up to the surface.

Chris Simatis 2 day Spearfishing trip to North and East Bali

First Day We went to East Bali , Visibility of the water was Excellent. We hunt at seamount and etoll. The result was satisfactory, We caught Spanish Mackerel, Bigeye Trevally, Green Jobfish, Midnight Snapper and Rainbow runner

The Next Trip We went to North Bali reef. Visibility again was excellent and we got bonus condition there was thermocilin in one of our favorite spot. Chris Simatis Manage to see a good size Dogtooth Tuna. Then not long after that he shot a good size Spanish Mackerel. Then Hubert also shot another Spanish mackerel. He also got Barracuda. Overall it was an epic day out with a really good diver who know how to hunt and enjoy a good time I the underwater paradise.

Day 2: Dog Town

Primary Mission of this trip is to locate the famous Dogtooth Tuna aka the bouy snatcher!! We woke up extra early in the morning to prepare ourself for some extreme spearfishing.
 Hubert prepare mix blend juice for the power boost to land a 100lb Doggy!! all the other preparing the bouy 25ps and 30 ps. we can see each other face that we are about to experience some crazy shit underwater. it was very hard to relax and calm ourself because the anticipation in out of the hook!!

in the other hand, the weather is very promising but diving close to New moon is asking for strong current and we damn know it! those monster love current and dangerous places for human to dive.

Luckly we have Indra aka banana Hammock to cheers us with his funny jokes and story about his experiences. i think we wasted a lot of precious energy from laughing so hard to Indra's story.

when we arrive just from looking at the spot we know we arrive at DOG TOWN yeaww! We gear up tangling with each other bouy line, stressing out just to get out of the boat without get caught with each other line. Landing doggy = lots of bouy+float line min 30 meter + bunny line 1-3 pcs + strong speargun (guns with reputation worldwide-no room for local gun) + lastly 3 big Balls on ur sack!

the first and second dive we all were greeted by several different species of trevally. GT monster size, bluefin trivially, bigeye trivially and golden trevally. Hubert Haciski, he was a machine, he kill all 4 different trivially species.  Brett and Indra shot monster size Green Jobfish aka Uku. Brett also manage to land small puppy and saw Whale shark while pulling the doggy.

Overall it was a great day in the office, no big Doggy but we saw a giant spanish mackerel, Few good size doggy but couldn't get closed.

East bali 4 May 2013

We start diving at 6:15 A.M. The visibilty was poor. The fish was not there. The usual big GT, Barracuda, and Snapper are no where to be found. Search at usual spot but nobody is home. Then after an hour the water started to change and Matteo was on the right spot and start shooting rainbow runners, blue trevally, queenfish and the fish we all want longnose emperor. Myself and luc finally saw and speared some rainbow runners. But didnt see and other fish. After half an hour water change again. So we left to check another spot.

 

 

The next spot was a sea-mount the usual resident are GT, and Dogtooth Tuna. The sea current was quiet strong which was good because usually the big guys are out. Again me and Luc didn't see any fish worth  shooting but Matteo manage to find a spot where there is a group of Bigeye Trevally. He shot the biggest from the group. Not long after the shot, the current direction started to change. The fish move spot. Matteo manage to locate the spot and i went to dive. But i only found small Bigeye Trevally. This trip was Matteo luck.

Thanks to Matteo he left me my favorite fish Emperor Snapper. Cooked the fish for dinner and rainbow runners fish n chips for the kids.
