Sulaiman Spearfishing Trip in East Bali hunting Spanish Mackerel

We start early in the morning the visibility was great, water was flat like a lake and no wind at all. As soon as we reach the spot Bait fish already on the surface creating disturbance on the water surface. First Dive I was greeted by large school of Bait fish and Yellow Barracuda come to greet me, it was to far for a good shot. The third Dive a good size Spanish Mackerel come to greet me next to the flasher. Got a good shot next to the gill. Sualiman come to the rescue to give second shot to secure the fish.

another 2 dive another Spanish Mackerel come close to the flasher and manage to shoot it from far away. We move few spot and saw big school of Milkfish but kept it distance . We also 2 Spanish Mackerel jumping off the surface of the water it looks like they are having feeding frenzy.

Jack Cassin our future new generation spearo from WA Australia

Jack Cassin Was young Spearo with full of potential . He was willing to listen and follow instruction. With couple of year of experience he will hunt the fish he dreams about. His persistent manage to shot of the cheekiest and hard fish to hunt the famous Maori Seaperch. He also miss a good size Spanish Mackerel. Over all Spearfishing is not only catching the fish that matter is what your learnt from the experience and apply to future trips.

Chris Simatis 2 day Spearfishing trip to North and East Bali

First Day We went to East Bali , Visibility of the water was Excellent. We hunt at seamount and etoll. The result was satisfactory, We caught Spanish Mackerel, Bigeye Trevally, Green Jobfish, Midnight Snapper and Rainbow runner

The Next Trip We went to North Bali reef. Visibility again was excellent and we got bonus condition there was thermocilin in one of our favorite spot. Chris Simatis Manage to see a good size Dogtooth Tuna. Then not long after that he shot a good size Spanish Mackerel. Then Hubert also shot another Spanish mackerel. He also got Barracuda. Overall it was an epic day out with a really good diver who know how to hunt and enjoy a good time I the underwater paradise.

Epic Spearfishing trip with Legendary Brodie moss from YoungbloodSpearfishing

We all were happy that we have created a new Friendship between Spearo who enjoy and passionate of being in the water. We all believe that there is positive and negative impact toward spearfishing snd we promise each other that we will send the correct message to all the spears around the world to become a responsible diver. We met day before the trip discussing the possibility to go spearfishing and we connect so well that we decide to go out the next day and hunt in our backyard.

We went to East Bali and it was an epic Day. Broodie shot Barramundi cod, then not long after I shot wahoo, the next spot Hubert shot. Giant Trevally and last spot before we finish I shot 15 kg Group.

After the trip we went back Komune to Broodie Hotel and ate the Delicious Barramundi cod. The chef cooked it so well , it was amazing.

We met few time after the trip to have few beer and Hubert went out with Broodie and both of them got lucky hunting in the land. Til next trip Brother!

4 Day trip West Sumbawa Ahmed, Osama and Mohhamed

Traveling To Sumbawa is always fun because you encounter many surprise in Airport, fast boat or Ferry. You get a little preview of Lombok and Sumbawa from Land and Sea. Ahmed, Muhammad, and Osama was good group to Host. We share a lot of laughter, they are willing to try and go through adventure into Style. Back Home they are sitting at a office with a suit, in Sumbawa they are sitting behind a pick up traveling to the spot for spearfishing. They all thought me many thing about their culture and there experience spearfishing and free diving. Hopefully one day I will have the chance to visit them in Kuwait and dive again together.

First Day We arrive at fishing village and sit down with village elder to have some coffee and tea. after our short break after driving for 2 hour we headed to the FAD open blue water spearfishing. The Result was good we saw many Mahi Mahi and Wahoo.

Second Day We went Spearfishing at the Reef and Visibility was good and We caught Maori Saeperch, Red Bass, Midnight Snapper, shark Mackerel

Day trip with Joe and Tyson

Joe came early morning to our office and we quickly swapped cars at our office so we are able to drive up to North bali at 5am!
As soon as we where on the way it started raining and we where abit concered even though the forecast was saying sunshine for the whole day.

As we drove further north we where luckly and the sun actually came out.
The rain stopped and we almost arrived to pickup Tyson from his hotel to join us up.

As we arrived to the fising village everyone was on the same page and the fishing jokes and strategies where flying and ofcourse everyone was introduced to eachother and we got along very well.

We geared up and prepared the boat for launch.

As we where going to our dive stop I gave our guys few tips on how to approache certain fish,
Tyson really wanted a midnight snapper for himself and Joe focused on getting food for the family!

On the first spot the water was nice calm and clear,
we split up so we still could see eachother and everyone was diving and hunting,

we started spotting big maori seaperch and few midnight snappers, also bigeye seabream where very common around but as we know they can be tricky to land.

on the drift i spotted a midnight snapper and managed to get a shot on it , landed it aswell! so stoked!!

Joe and Tyson shot few fish aswell , and we slowly started filling up the cool box to take the haul back home and feed our friends and families.

We did around 4 spots that we know well, one was performing really well that day, and we decied to add another drift to the end of the trip.

We jumped in the water and I saw a bait ball flash up from the depth and my intuition told me that something must be hunting them.

Quick reaction to the left and a Giant Trevally is coming out of the deep and swims towards me, problem was that there was a big sea mount under me and i was afraid to lose the fish in a fight inside the current, so i focused on a good stone shot and it worked, the fish died , pulled it up and all off us celebrated the last drift of the day and we called it afterwards since we had alot of fish and most important of the day FUN!

On the Hunt

It was an awesome start to the day, the weather was good, but the forecast was saying lots of rain and thunderstorms, but we had luck. We prayed with our captain Edi at the temple for good weather, a nice catch and  a safe return.  Which worked well.
On the way to our spot we shared some stories and tactics how to target some species and the tips and tricks with gear. All spearos love to share their experiences.

Midnight Snapper

As we arrive by the spot and jumped in the Fish activity was amazing, slowly approching some caves i heard a shot, it was Josh trying to get a Bigeye Seabream. But unfortunetly we all know how hard it is to shot. I gave it a try to, due to problems with my roller gun i missed aswell.
I recently put a MVD roller head on my 1300 rob allen, but it is not performing so well.

As we continue diving the bay, I noticed that Harry was staying in one spot for a while,
i saw over him and looked that he shot something down there in the cave, i asked him what it was and he responded with that he does not know because it passed by quick and he landed a shot in the stomach.

But it went into the cave at a depth of around 15meters. So he decedet down and pulled it out. Luckly the visibilty was good at that time and i saw it being pulled out at first i thought its a Giant Trevally because it looked big but as we pull it up it becomes clear its a Midnight Snapper, we both we suprised how big it is, not thinking that it would be a possible world record, haha.
As we get on the boat to switch the spots Josh spotted few Maori Seaperch but with no luck.
On the Boat we did a huge mistake we threw out the guts of the midnight snapper because they where hanging out from the belly shot. If we would have had kept the guts it would end up in the record books.

So we moved to the next spot, and it was full of life, amazing diving that day ive went for some sweetlip snapper for our home barbeque party.
Josh spotted a Jobfish and landed it, a good sized Jobbie with around 3.5kg weight.
 Till now the quality was coming up and everyone was enjoying the day, the visibitly was great until we swapped for the last spot, it was turning tide and we had around 1 1/2h left of proper sunlight.

We dive along the edge and Josh did a dive right next to me , he followed the edge and i hear a shot and a fish just did the flip, a nice stoned deced sized mangrove jack around 5kg!!

Both of us where so excited , it was also his PB on that day, which ended up in an EPIC trip for both guys with Indospearfishing Charters !!

So we slowly decided to head home and hit another spot, but the sun was going down and the tides where wrong from that time and we quickly decided to head home.

We where so pumped on the catches that the day passed pretty quickly.

20 August 2011 East Bali

The current was suprising very strong but it brought all the Mahi Mahi out, Mackerel, Skipjack, and lots of Amberjack. I had 2 Mahi Mahi break-off the spear. It was a good day spearfishing. Will come back there again soon. Miss a school of Mackerel. All i did was miss a shot or the fish break-off from the spear.

1/1/2010 2010 New Year at East Bali

 New year spearfishing at Amed. It started with rain then it clear out. All th fish start coming out during the afternoon. We only cought few small Peacock rockcod before lunch. Then afternoon session all the bigger fish start coming out. the incoming tide attract all the predator to station waiting for pray to come by. We copy the exact technic and wait on between rocks to get prtotected from the strong curent. We know the big GT patrol in that area and manage to shoot   2 small gold-spotted trevally in same spot. No GT :(
