Day trip with Joe and Tyson

Joe came early morning to our office and we quickly swapped cars at our office so we are able to drive up to North bali at 5am!
As soon as we where on the way it started raining and we where abit concered even though the forecast was saying sunshine for the whole day.

As we drove further north we where luckly and the sun actually came out.
The rain stopped and we almost arrived to pickup Tyson from his hotel to join us up.

As we arrived to the fising village everyone was on the same page and the fishing jokes and strategies where flying and ofcourse everyone was introduced to eachother and we got along very well.

We geared up and prepared the boat for launch.

As we where going to our dive stop I gave our guys few tips on how to approache certain fish,
Tyson really wanted a midnight snapper for himself and Joe focused on getting food for the family!

On the first spot the water was nice calm and clear,
we split up so we still could see eachother and everyone was diving and hunting,

we started spotting big maori seaperch and few midnight snappers, also bigeye seabream where very common around but as we know they can be tricky to land.

on the drift i spotted a midnight snapper and managed to get a shot on it , landed it aswell! so stoked!!

Joe and Tyson shot few fish aswell , and we slowly started filling up the cool box to take the haul back home and feed our friends and families.

We did around 4 spots that we know well, one was performing really well that day, and we decied to add another drift to the end of the trip.

We jumped in the water and I saw a bait ball flash up from the depth and my intuition told me that something must be hunting them.

Quick reaction to the left and a Giant Trevally is coming out of the deep and swims towards me, problem was that there was a big sea mount under me and i was afraid to lose the fish in a fight inside the current, so i focused on a good stone shot and it worked, the fish died , pulled it up and all off us celebrated the last drift of the day and we called it afterwards since we had alot of fish and most important of the day FUN!

North Bali Reef

Meet up at the office Jason Daccache  and Luke Hockey to hunt up North. We drive for 2 hour and arrive early at the Village where we will take the boat.

We start the dive by drift diving hunting for doggies at drop off ledges. No sign of doggies only small little puppies that  was swimming close to surface. Then we decided to go to the seamount to hunt Reef fishes. We saw lots of midnight snapper but not close enough for shooting range. Saw few Longnose emperor but they are just teasing us.

Then we continue for drift dive on the shallow reef to hunt Maori search and GT's. Shot few Maori Seaperch but didn't manage to see big GT or Trevally only small ones.

We save the best spot for last the GT beach Club spot. The condition was good but the current was little bit to weak and far offshore. But we manage to see few species of Trevally but again was too small. Saw one big GT but it sprint like bullet train. Not long before we call it a day i spotted a good size Longnose Emperor and nail it!

To sum up the trip, it was such a good trip to be surrounded by positive people with amazing vibes, energy, stories and experiences. I learnt that day by appreciating small things can add up your day to successful trips. Thanks a lot boys looking forward to see you guy in Australia.

Spearfishing North Bali with Merman as wing man

We start the day hunting at the FAD. We saw few Mahi Mahi but the all kept their distance. Then the first Wahoo greeted me and i shot it right at the spine.  Then not long after we spotted a white tip shark super friendly playing with merman. 

Not long after the whit tip visit more fish come to merman, but this time it was 3 star eating fish. The fish was too friendly that merman was touching it, it was a triple tail. if I was there i will shot the triple tail and have a nice oven baked rosemary triple tail for dinner.

We move to next FAD we shot few Mahi Mahi but we miss the shot. We decide to go Back to reef and get some snapper. We spend the rest of the day trying to hunt the Midnight snapper and Maori Seaperch. After countless try finally Merman shot his first Seaprett!! We call it a day and celebrate.

November 2015 Forecast and Prediction

Day 2: Dog Town

Primary Mission of this trip is to locate the famous Dogtooth Tuna aka the bouy snatcher!! We woke up extra early in the morning to prepare ourself for some extreme spearfishing.
 Hubert prepare mix blend juice for the power boost to land a 100lb Doggy!! all the other preparing the bouy 25ps and 30 ps. we can see each other face that we are about to experience some crazy shit underwater. it was very hard to relax and calm ourself because the anticipation in out of the hook!!

in the other hand, the weather is very promising but diving close to New moon is asking for strong current and we damn know it! those monster love current and dangerous places for human to dive.

Luckly we have Indra aka banana Hammock to cheers us with his funny jokes and story about his experiences. i think we wasted a lot of precious energy from laughing so hard to Indra's story.

when we arrive just from looking at the spot we know we arrive at DOG TOWN yeaww! We gear up tangling with each other bouy line, stressing out just to get out of the boat without get caught with each other line. Landing doggy = lots of bouy+float line min 30 meter + bunny line 1-3 pcs + strong speargun (guns with reputation worldwide-no room for local gun) + lastly 3 big Balls on ur sack!

the first and second dive we all were greeted by several different species of trevally. GT monster size, bluefin trivially, bigeye trivially and golden trevally. Hubert Haciski, he was a machine, he kill all 4 different trivially species.  Brett and Indra shot monster size Green Jobfish aka Uku. Brett also manage to land small puppy and saw Whale shark while pulling the doggy.

Overall it was a great day in the office, no big Doggy but we saw a giant spanish mackerel, Few good size doggy but couldn't get closed.

Day 1: spearfishing East Indonesia

We plan the trip 1 month ago and is finally in place, adrenaline already pumping and we are not even in the water yet, that how stoke e are about this dream trip. After a long day to get to our accomadation. We all need  a good night sleep to start 5 day nonstop spearfishing action (exceptional for Hubert he is still young and he doesn't need any sleep to hunt Doggy dogg)

First day visibilty was not in our favor. First spot no fish was at home but we saw few Sneaky maori seaperch and mangrove jack. Brett shot one and i miss one, the other shot some reef fish.

We decide to move to a protected bay for better visibilty and also to get protected from the strong wind.

The visibility was better but we didn't see much live underwater. Over all it was good warming up and get a taste what is waiting in the other corner of the bay, DOG TOWN!!!

Nothing is better to enjoy the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the  beautiful view of the Beach and string swimming suits...

2 spearfishing Trip in North Bali

First day we start spearfishing early in the morning at the FAD. The effort of waking up extra early payoff. We were greeted by  mahi mahi, amberjack , rainbow runner and Wahoo.

We had no luck getting close to the wahoo, but manage to shoot some mahi mahi and amberjack. On the way back we stop by our favorite reef and shot some reef fish and big barracuda.

The next day we saw some fat doggies but out of range. Then we decide to go back to the FAD to give the wahoo another shot. We made the right decision, the water is like  a lake , and the FAD was full of fish. we were busy shooting and loading the gun until we are tired. Michael shot his first Wahoo and it was the best way to end the two day spearfishing trip.

Don't dive under influence of substances
some people can pull it off, but the chances of accident to happen overtime can get higher. Is advise not to dive with any substances running through blood. give your body a good rest. Is not worth your life.

Diving without hangover

I have experience it few time with few friend, it was no fun, your diving depth cut by half, frustration level rise double like old men seing a naked you women. Generally you will have sh@t couple of hour diving, 2/10 i landed good fish with hangover.

Diving without stress

When you wake up in the morning and you still stress out about work, friend, wife, girlfriend, children, family etc. Is strongily advice to solve the problem. Most of the time it will clouded your mine when your focusing on your breathing, before you decent for the hunt. Is stongily advice control your stress, by facing the source of the stress, meditation, or if your tough bloke then just pushnit away and blocked it!

Diving with unfinish problem

Just like stress, it will keep poping in your mind while diving, consentration level zero, most of the time reault is nil. Your body posture is not relax and you will be more aggressive. Resulting sending bad vibe tonyou sureounding. Beleive it or not is better diving with clear mind.

Condition urself or be fit

No point going diving if you only slept 2-3 hours. No point if your about to be sick with flu. No point if you have block nose and wnding up with bleeding nose. Dont dive if you just fly by airplane, give a good 1-2 day rest. Our have quick shallow dive the next day. Then following day dive to your comfort depth.

Dont push over your capibility
Not one fish is worth ur life there is always a better chance next time. Too many fish i miss the chance because i am running out of breath. Is ok there is always next time. Yes you will not be able to sleep for the next few days, but better the sitting in hospital bed for a couple days. To make the pain less, record all your dive with gopro or video camera. Atleast you have memory encountering your dream fish. 😎😉

Bad weather

I have encounter several bad storm in the middle of ocean. Was it worth? Not at all. If you like shitting or peeing in your pant. Go ahead. Captain sparrow spearfishing trip has been cross out of my list of adventure. Plan your trip better, many website provide detail information on you local dive spot for free.

The correct equipment

Diving with glove with holes is not cool. Diving with mask that doesnt fit properly is annoying. Untrim mustache or beard is also annoying! Wrong thickness wetsuit can be a problem : too thick you have sweatie balls, too thin you pee every 10 min. So bring extra wetsuits !

Dive buddy the same level so you can save each other ass when thing go wrong.

Sex before diving

This is common topic spearo always joke about. Sex maraton before diving not good idea because it will ruin your stamina. Maybe a quickie is ok and blowjob ( relaxing your mind 😉)

Superstition mind fu@k you before diving can really be a problem sometime. Like people wishing you catching lots of fish, or people requesting you to catch some fish. Most of the time it will mind fu@k during diving because you keep hearing there voices.
